CEO Update: Client-led growth

Every year, thousands of clients engage with our legal updates or attend our seminars, covering topics from insurance to space law.

These events are rightly focused on potential implications for your business.

Recently I experienced the lens being turned on our own business during an interview with Capital Brief on the firm’s strategy, culture and expansion.

Reflecting on the questions asked reminded me of how deeply our clients have influenced the firm’s evolution in recent years.

One of the most visible markers of that influence is our growth.

Thanks to your trust, the firm has nearly doubled in size over the past seven years.

This month, we proudly announced the promotion of four new partners: Kate Ralph, Alison Cui, Raffael Maestri, and Mario Rashid-Ring. In October, we also welcomed Roger Habib as our first Chief Transformation Officer, underscoring our commitment to investing in new technologies and processes that enhance client service.

Throughout this growth, we have remained steadfast in nurturing a culture and values that sustain your continued trust, now and into the future.

Two key initiatives reflect this commitment:

  1. Advancing Gender Equality: We’ve transformed our talent pipeline to mirror the high female graduation rates from law schools. While progress has been made, more work remains to ensure we reflect that at every level.

  2. Expanding Pro Bono Services: We’ve significantly expanded our pro bono practice, particularly within First Nations communities. Continuing to look for these opportunities was a significant part of the development of our recently published Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

These efforts, like so many others, are shaped and influenced by you—our clients.

On behalf of everyone at Bartier Perry, we take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support. We hope you find time to step away from work emails and commitments to enjoy a peaceful and joyful holiday season. Wishing you all a safe and happy 2025.
