The Unfair Contract Terms Regime was first introduced in 2010 to protect consumers from unfair standard form contracts. The regime was expanded in 2016 to encapsulate small businesses. 

From 9 November 2023 some further changes will bring, amongst other things, substantial monetary penalties for breach.
