Managing Ill and Injured Workers

Date - 29 November 2022
Venue - Hybrid

Choice of Face to Face or Interactive Livestream

As working environments return to a level of normalcy in the post-pandemic era, employers must turn their minds again to the difficult operational and business decisions that may have been delayed. This includes the effective management of ill & injured employees, both in the short and long term.

This presentation will cover the dos & don’ts of managing the difficult circumstances that often arise when dealing with ill and injured employees – such as:

  • discharging employer duties and obligations, whilst eliminating or controlling foreseeable risks;

  • the different approaches to work-related and non-work related illness and injury management;

  • whether, and how, to request medical certificates or to involve independent medical experts;

  • the reasonable limits to suitable duties; reasonable adjustments; rehabilitation; redeployment; and retraining; and

  • when it is no longer reasonable to continue employment in all the circumstances.

James Mattson, Andrew Yahl and Hannah Lawson will be presenting and look forward to joining you with the Workplace Law and Culture team.
